10/14 update - Chapter 4 is due at the end of next week. You will need Cornell notes for it, and I will be checking them off. Please come to class Monday or Tuesday with a claim related to some "arguable" topic. You do not have to agree with your claim. You're just using it. We will continue to compare Didion's essay to the three argument structures and then begin to look at style and content.

10/17 update
Tomorrow we'll finish our discussion of Didion and look back over the Bitzer test. You will be asked to write a brief synthesis due on Friday. For Wednesday, come to class with a claim statement (thesis) about a controversial topic. [Did the font just change? - What's up with that?] We will be working with it in the IMC W-Th. You don't have to agree with it; it just needs to take a side.Chapter 4 plus Cornell notes will be due next Monday 10/24. I will be checking off the notes. Later that week (short week) we will probably be taking a quiz on the three structures from Ch7, so you also might want to spend time later this week or over the weekend studying your Cornell notes from Ch7. I will be working diligently over the next 3 days to get grades up to date.
